“Ubuntu:
I am because we are”.
Originating in the Bantu and Xhosa people of Southern Africa and popularized by Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela, the Ubuntu philosophy embodies a communal ethos that emphasizes shared responsibility, trust in each other, and interconnectedness among the community.
The Ubuntu philosophy is displayed through compassion, where individuals express a sense of deep caring for and understanding of each other. The Ubuntu approach allows team members to strive towards becoming caring, understanding and sharing (Poovan et al., 2006:24).
The Ubuntu Partnership
believes that we are strongest when we come together, aligning as a team, and this includes in business.
Approach
Using the philosophy of Ubuntu to guide my approach, I support businesses through their People strategy and initiatives, as well as through Coaching. By keeping ‘community’ at the centre, I effectively support and advise, resulting in real impact and measurable change for you and your team.
The Ubuntu Partnership’s values are aligned with some of the many principles of Ubuntu:
Humanness: we are strongest when we team and place our collective interests ahead of our individual interests. We lead by serving others.
Empathy: by consciously seeking to understand another’s perspective, we create a space where people flourish.
Generosity: we willingly give of ourselves, actively focused on growing and supporting others.
Toughness: we always treat others with respect and we make the difficult decisions, even when we don’t want to.
Deep Kindness: in all we do, we are kind.
